About Your Barbers
Russell Firestone
I’m one of the rare Austin natives who has watched the skyline change as much as the hairstyles. Born and raised in the capital city, I learned the barbering trade in Akron, Ohio, where I built a foundation in classic barbering and precision cutting.
After a couple Ohio winters, Austin called me home. I spent four years refining my craft at the Good Life Barber Shop downtown before co-founding Brazos Barbershop with Matt. Over more than a decade behind the chair, I’ve built a loyal clientele by delivering consistent, detail-driven cuts that hold their shape long after you leave the shop.
My approach is straightforward: clean lines, balanced proportions, and a haircut that grows out well. Whether it’s a tight fade, a classic taper, or a professional cut for the office, each appointment is focused, efficient, and tailored to the individual.
When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll find me swing dancing, riding motorcycles, mixing classic cocktails, or helping customers at Capra & Cavelli — another Austin original.
Matt Matthews
Originally from Arkansas, I got started in the barbering industry in New York City working in a 100-year-old barbershop in Manhattan.
I have called Austin home since 2017. When not at the shop I enjoy fishing, grilling, and spending time with my family.
